A Pennsylvania Boiler Explosion.<br />

A small boiler exploded, last month, at Erie, Pa., in a factory in which brass goods<br />

and plumbers' supplies were made. <strong>The</strong> results of the explosion, so far as property is<br />

concerned, are shown in the accompanying photo-engravings. In addition to the severe<br />

property damage, six persons were injured, and most or all would have been killed had<br />

it not been for the fact that the debris, in falling, formed "pockets 1 ' in which the in-<br />

jured persons were protected to a certain extent.<br />

<strong>The</strong> wrecked buildings consisted of a three-story orass foundry, a three-story annex<br />

to the Liebel Hotel, a warehouse belonging to a hardware store, and the cafe of the<br />

hotel. All of these were totally demolished, and the damage to property will undoubt-
