(14.) — A boiler exploded, on January 10th, iu J. W. Smith's saw-mill, at Bolen,<br />
near Waycross, Ga. Mr. Smith was painfully seal led and bruised.<br />
(15.) — A boiler exploded, on January 11th, in Bedard & Morency's sash, blind,<br />
and door factory, at Oak Park, near Chicago, 111. I. B. Procunier, Herman Beck, and<br />
Charles Foss were severely injured. <strong>The</strong> boiler house was wrecked, and a sixty-foot<br />
brick smoke stack was thrown down upon the ruins. <strong>The</strong> property loss is estimated at<br />
$4,000.<br />
(16.) — A heating boiler exploded, on January 12th, in John F. Callahan's grocery<br />
store, at New Haven, Conn. John Leonard. William Keeley, Madeline Tucker, Gertrude<br />
Callahan, and Mollie Callahan were injured. <strong>The</strong> building was considerably damaged,<br />
and the property loss is estimated at $3,000.<br />
(17.) — A boiler exploded, on January 12th, in Benjamin Jessie's saw-mill, near<br />
Edmonton, Ky. <strong>The</strong> accident occurred during the dinner hour, and nobody was<br />
injured. <strong>The</strong> building in which the boiler stood was wrecked, and fragments of the<br />
boiler were thrown to a distance of from four to five hundred feet.<br />
(18.) — A boiler exploded, on January 13th in the Green Ridge Iron "Works, at<br />
Scranton, Pa. Nobody was injured. <strong>The</strong> property loss was about $2,000.<br />
(19.) — A boiler exploded, on January 16th, in Robert Boggs' flouring mill, at Suterville,<br />
Westmoreland County, Pa. John Boggs, the miller, was seriously injured. <strong>The</strong><br />
boiler was thrown one hundred and thirty yards, demolishing Colonel Eli Suter's house,<br />
and considerably damaging the residence of Dr. Pierce.<br />
(20.) — On January 16th. a boiler exploded at Wood ville, near Bowling Green, Ohio.<br />
James Heltebrake was painfully injured, and the boiler house was completely wrecked.<br />
(21.) — A boiler used for drilling an oil well, at Belfast, Allegany County, X. Y.,<br />
exploded, on January 18th. Engineer Ives was badly bruised and scalded.<br />
(22.) — A boiler exploded, on January 19th, at Marion, Ind., during the progress of<br />
a fire at the Marion Pulp Company's plant. Chief Butler, Harry Polling, Frederick<br />
Bennett, Thomas Hamilton, and Burr Hamilton, of the fire department, were badly<br />
injured by the explosion, as was also William Nessler, manager of the mill.<br />
(23.) — A heating boiler exploded, on January 20th, in Mr. II. M. Berrill's resi-<br />
dence, at Portland, Me. Nobody was injured, «and the damage was small.<br />
(24.) — A small boiler exploded, on January 20th, in Dr. John B. Zabriskie's carriage<br />
house, on Church avenue, Brooklyn, N. Y. Nobody was injured, and the damage<br />
was small.<br />
(25.) — A small hot-water boiler exploded, on January 21st, in J. F. Morin'a bakery,<br />
Lawrence, Mass. No one was hurt.<br />
(26.) — On January 21st, a boiler exploded under the sidewalk in front of Xo. 14<br />
West 29th street. New York. Several pedestrians barely escaped injury, and the whole<br />
neighborhood was thrown into confusion.<br />
(27.) — A heating boiler gave way, on January 22nd, iu C. B. Stow's new green-<br />
houses, at Kingston. X. Y. Xo great damage was done.<br />
(28.) — On January 22nd, a boiler exploded in William Haggard's sawmill, near<br />
Morgantown, Ind. <strong>The</strong> place was wrecked, but nobody was injured.
