<strong>The</strong> Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company, having been in the<br />
business of insuring boilers for the past thirty-five years, and being also the largest, by<br />
far, of all the companies in the world that give their attention solely to this particular<br />
class of work, has had abundant opportunity for the collection of specimens of all kinds,<br />
<strong>The</strong> "Chamber of Horrors."<br />
illustrating the ills to which boilers are prone. <strong>The</strong> way in which these opportunities<br />
have been improved may be inferred by an examination of the photo-engraving accompanying<br />
this article, which represents the Hartford Company's museum, at its home<br />
office in Hartford, Conn. We exhibited a collection of specimens of this sort at the<br />
Centennial Exposition in 1876, and have made similar exhibits at other expositions
