Each position gives first the basic function and then the maximum potential of the
position.
Position 1—Governed by The Magician
Here are the Physical/Material aspects of the Karmic Contract: your disposition toward
the Physical Plane, matters of health and well-being. Beginning, origin, and birth of
all aspects of existence. The beginning aspects of beginnings. Specifically, the Physical
Birth, the effect of the Genetic Father, your masculine heritage. Your package of instincts.
The absolute physical individual before any environmental influences. From this position
all the life will evolve. Your propensity for fears and anxieties. Financial roots. Basic resources.
Sustenance. Fuel. The will to live. From here everything is possible (Magician),
everything is the future, as this is your first stop on the journey, specifically, the Physical/
Material journey.
Position 2—Governed by The High Priestess
Emotional aspects of the Karmic Contract. Your disposition toward the Emotional
Plane. Emotional beginnings. Specifically, the Emotional Package at the time of physical
birth, your feminine heritage, the effect of the Genetic Mother. The effect of the Feminine
Principle (High Priestess). Origin of passions. The absolute emotional individual
before any environmental influences. Feelings toward self. Your Sexual Drives. Energy.
Motivation. The will to love. This is the second stop of Stage One (Physical), where you pick
up your emotional baggage for the trip. From this position your emotional life will evolve.
Position 3—Governed by The Empress
Mental aspects of the Karmic Contract. Your disposition toward the Mental Plane.
Mental beginnings. Specifically, the Mental Package at the time of physical birth. Your
Mental Heritage and primary reference to the cumulative effects of past lives that impinge
on this incarnation. The will to know. Capacity to learn and teach. Ability to communicate.
The origin of your philosophies and belief systems. Drive for achievement. The ego. This is
the third stop of Stage One (Physical), where you pick up your mental baggage for the trip.
From this position your mental life will evolve.
Position 4—Governed by The Emperor
Spiritual aspects of the Karmic Contract. Your disposition towards the Spiritual Plane.
Spiritual beginnings. Your Spiritual heritage. This position indicates the level of service of
this incarnation and the composition and direction of this service. The card that falls in
this position, with those in the previous positions, 1, 2, and 3, completes the Karmic Contract
and will give an indication as to the age of the soul and the nature of this lifetime.
This is the fourth stop of Stage One (Physical), where you pick up the envelope with your
instructions from the soul for the trip. From this position your spiritual life will evolve, and
it is at this level that you will find your intuition at work, interpreting the messages about
the lessons at hand. This is also the first stop of Stage Two (Emotional). You begin your
approach to life based on how you “feel” about things. You leave the birth/infant Physical
Stage behind.
