Here is where you mentally set yourself apart from the herd. You have established
what you think and believe and you rely on that, rather than on what others think. You now
have the ability to analyze and compare; not just feel differences, but to know them. The
ego develops a solid sense of being separate and makes plans that will satisfy its every
imaginable whim. This is you, not just seeing yourself at the center of your world, but quite
possibly seeing yourself as the center of the world. This stage is as necessary as all the
others, but as it is not currently the fashion to favor the ego, healthy development at this
stage is frequently aborted. Unless you fully experience this separate half of duality, you
will not get very far later when you need to experience the togetherness, the oneness. You
have to bring a whole, developed you to the party if you are going to have any fun.

Here the fully developed mind with its fully developed, healthy ego becomes consciously
aware, albeit with help from spiritual insights, of the flip side of duality in the
Mental Plane. Having externalized and experienced the major lessons of the consciousness
of separateness, you see the need to internalize and experience the lessons of togetherness/oneness.
You begin to see and understand the similarities in things where before
you saw only differences. Where you used to define, you now refine. The lower and higher
(outer and inner) minds are in harmony.

First on the list of things to bring within your expanding sense of self is the shadow, or
inner, side of your own persona. Only when you neglect the reality of this half of your being
do you risk the runaway lack of mental direction of the will that we describe as evil. Evil
cannot exist unless you refuse to accept this half of your mental duality. Acceptance and
integration at this stage are strategic. When they are accomplished, you are prepared to
receive revelations and spiritual insights that will raise your level of mental activity to new
heights, as you are called upon to apply your intellect to the common good.

Bursts of insight and inspiration now excite the prepared mind and confound the
unprepared, as information from the Spiritual Level descends into your conscious awareness.
To the ego side of your mental duality these are opportunities of a lifetime for
concrete achievements and are meant to be used to your advantage. To the post-ego (or
ego-evolved) side comes the ability to direct those opportunities for the benefit of others.
Here your minds seem to push you; you become extroverted and active, for you have seen
that there is so much that needs to be done. There is a drive to achieve. The intellect is
excited. You want to make a difference. (See the duality at work in this last sentence: the
“you” is the ego that wants to act, but the “difference” is one that will be of benefit to
mankind in general, not the self alone.) All of this type of activity with The Star shows the
impact of the Stage of Higher Emotions on your thoughts. You are motivated for the
common good.

Your mind establishes a functioning link with the universal mind. You have identified
with the collective will. The intellect realizes that apparent free will has brought it to this
point, but it also realizes that the will has been guided and that individual will and collective
will are now one and the same. Your thoughts are very powerful now, and only through
the lessons of responsibility and universal concern are you able to exercise appropriate
