The Seven Stages and Their Two Levels
Each of the seven Stages operates on two different levels. First, each represents a time
period in the individual’s life. Second, each Stage represents a phase of their evolving
consciousness. It is this second level that interacts most richly with the Planes to give us the
meanings of the 22 positions in the spread.
Time Factors of the Seven Stages
Stage One: At Birth (the Karmic Contract)
Stage Two: Early Childhood
Stage Three: Recent Past
Stage Four: Present
Stage Five: Near Future
Stage Six: Mid-Future
Stage Seven: Long-Term Future
At the beginning of any reading, six of the time periods may be adjusted to represent
any desired units of time. However, Stage Four must always represent the Present. A valuable
alternative is the seven-month period (read with the present month plus three months
preceding and three months following). Greater time specificity is available using a sevenweek
or seven-day period.

Stage Four: Spiritual (the Awakening)
Stage Five: Higher Mental
Stage Six: Higher Emotional
Stage Seven: Higher Physical
