<strong>Karmic</strong> <strong>Tarot</strong><br />
whose meanings represent the experiences in everyday life whereby we learn the archetypal<br />
lessons represented by the 22 Majors. The author also refers to these 56 cards as the Minors.<br />
Mini-Journeys: The paths of experiences <strong>and</strong> lessons to be learned in the four Planes of<br />
the personality: Physical, Emotional, Mental, <strong>and</strong> Spiritual Journeys.<br />
Path: The link through sequential events in the linear time of the present lifetime, whereby<br />
we are gaining the experience <strong>and</strong> knowledge of our chosen lessons <strong>and</strong> increasing our<br />
awareness of universal consciousness.<br />
Pips: The 40 numbered cards, Ace to 10, in each of the four suits of the Minor Arcana.<br />
Planes: The four horizontal rows in the <strong>Karmic</strong> Spread: the Physical Plane, Emotional Plane,<br />
Mental Plane, <strong>and</strong> Spiritual Plane. They are the four aspects or levels of the personality.<br />
Position: Any of the 22 locations on which cards fall in the <strong>Karmic</strong> Spread, such locations<br />
being created <strong>and</strong> defined by the grid <strong>for</strong>med by the intersection of the Planes (the horizontal<br />
rows) <strong>and</strong> the Stages (the vertical columns).<br />
Provider: The Divine source of all in<strong>for</strong>mation given to the reader in the interpretation of<br />
any layout using the <strong>Karmic</strong> Spread.<br />
Questions Index: The author’s reference system <strong>for</strong> recording: 1) questions that you feel<br />
the <strong>Tarot</strong> should be able to provide answers to, <strong>and</strong> 2) where in the <strong>Karmic</strong> <strong>Tarot</strong> system<br />
(which positions in the <strong>Karmic</strong> Spread <strong>and</strong> which cards in the deck) you can expect to look<br />
<strong>for</strong> <strong>and</strong> find the answers to these questions.<br />
Reader: The person receiving in<strong>for</strong>mation from the Provider by interpretation of the 22<br />
cards distributed in a layout using the <strong>Karmic</strong> Spread.<br />
Readee: Known in most <strong>Tarot</strong> literature as the querent, this is the person <strong>for</strong> whom the<br />
<strong>Karmic</strong> Spread is being interpreted.<br />
Reincarnation: The belief that we incarnate in a series of lifetimes that represent continuity<br />
in our education toward universal truth.<br />
Row: In all references to the four planes of the personality <strong>and</strong> the four Planes of the <strong>Karmic</strong><br />
Spread, the organization of the in<strong>for</strong>mation horizontally is referred to as being in rows.<br />
Royal Court: The four Court cards (Courts) that represent the strongest Court card in<br />
their respective suit; they are in essence the King of the Kings, the Queen of the Queens,<br />
the Knight of the Knights, <strong>and</strong> the Page of the Pages. Specifically, they are: the King of<br />
Pentacles, the Queen of Cups, the Knight of Swords, <strong>and</strong> the Page of W<strong>and</strong>s.<br />
Sine Curve: Mathematically, an S-shaped curve described by the equation y = sine x. But<br />
used by the author in reference to its shape <strong>and</strong> the connotation of oscillation, pulsation,<br />
up/down, phasing, rhythm, waves, duality, etc.<br />
Soul: The innermost part of the human condition that seeks its identity in the identity of<br />
the Provider.<br />
Source Definitions: Definitions of all the sources of influence from which are derived: 1 )<br />
the meanings of the 22 cards of the Major Arcana <strong>and</strong> 2) the meanings of the 22 positions<br />
in the <strong>Karmic</strong> Spread.<br />
Spread: Any pattern of positions designed to accept the laying out of <strong>Tarot</strong> cards <strong>for</strong> the<br />
purpose of interpreting a Divine message from the Provider.<br />
Stages: The seven vertical columns in the <strong>Karmic</strong> Spread representing the seven Stages of<br />
development during the lifetime; used to mark chronological stages <strong>and</strong> stages of evolution<br />
of consciousness.
