1.0 Introduction<br />
There are certain factors that can sustain the teaching and learning<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>comparative</strong> <strong>edu</strong>cation as a discipline. Also, there are certain qualities<br />
to be possessed by anybody who is teaching <strong>comparative</strong> <strong>edu</strong>cation.<br />
2.0 Objective<br />
At the end <strong>of</strong> this unit, you should be able to identify and discuss<br />
factors that can sustain the teaching and learning <strong>of</strong> <strong>comparative</strong><br />
<strong>edu</strong>cation as well as the qualities to be possessed by the teachers <strong>of</strong><br />
Comparative Education.<br />
3.0 The Content<br />
3.6.1 The Future <strong>of</strong> Comparative Education<br />
For <strong>comparative</strong> <strong>edu</strong>cation to have its status enhanced, the<br />
following suggestions have to be taken into consideration.<br />
(a) It should be possible to establish through Comparative<br />
Education, <strong>edu</strong>cational theories that will give predictive power.<br />
(b) The research techniques being used by the Sociologist,<br />
Economics, Psychologists and Philosophers among others<br />
should be integrated into the approaches to the<br />
study <strong>of</strong> <strong>comparative</strong> <strong>edu</strong>cation even though their data may not<br />
necessarily be the same thing for the purpose <strong>of</strong> building up a<br />
theory.<br />
(c) Highly qualified and experienced people from different<br />
geographical areas should be involved in the study <strong>of</strong><br />
Comparative Education.<br />
(d) Education Comparativists should extend their cooperation to<br />
the philosophers, sociologists, historians, economics, natural<br />
scientists, statisticians, linguistics as well as political scientists<br />
even though they work in different fields, their contributions<br />
differently when integrated together build up the body <strong>of</strong><br />
Comparative Education information.<br />
