In the whole of America, less than 60 per cent of the total cost of
both public primary and secondary schools comes from the taxes levied
by the local schools boards. Also, the state government always sets aside
about 40 per cent of its annual budget for the running of the public
schools. The bulk of this money is generated from the state taxes as well
as the taxes paid by the state workers.
In the private schools, starting from the primary school up to the
university, the students pay school fees in addition to the taxes being
paid by the parents. Also, some well to-do individuals in America
always assist the private schools financially.
