(1) Pressure vessels construction procedural process, material, fittings and attachments<br />

shall be in accordance with <strong>the</strong> standard requirements provided under Rule 1162.01<br />

(2) Pressure vessels shall be designed for <strong>the</strong>ir intended use and suitability to local condition.<br />

(3) Every pressure vessel shall be accompanied by a certificate issued by <strong>the</strong> Manufacturer<br />

showing <strong>the</strong> technical specifications to which <strong>the</strong> vessel has been constructed.<br />

(4) Application for permit for locally fabricated pressure vessels shall be filed with <strong>the</strong><br />

Bureau or to <strong>the</strong> Regional Office (with available PME) accompanied by design and<br />

specification in five (5) copies (white print).<br />

1172.03 : Installation :<br />

(1) Pressure vessels shall be installed in a way that all parts are readily accessible for<br />

inspection.<br />

(2) Pressure vessels installed underground shall be placed in concrete or brick pits with<br />

removable covers protected by suitable corrosion protection systems i.e. cathodic protection<br />

or o<strong>the</strong>r cathodic coatings as approved by <strong>the</strong> enforcing inspection authority.<br />

(3) Requirements in <strong>the</strong> preparation <strong>of</strong> pressure vessels installation plans including internal<br />

combustion engine and o<strong>the</strong>r mechanical equipments shall be as provided under Rule 1168.<br />

1172.04 : Factor <strong>of</strong> Safety :<br />

The permissible working pressure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pressure vessel shall be reduced to maintain a<br />

factor <strong>of</strong> safety <strong>of</strong> not less that five (5) or such o<strong>the</strong>r factor as may have been specified/fixed<br />

in <strong>the</strong> specification when an inspection <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pressure vessel shows signs <strong>of</strong> deterioration<br />

unless suitable repairs are done. It shall be reduced or de-rated in accordance to <strong>the</strong> provisions<br />

<strong>of</strong> its design code based on <strong>the</strong> remaining thickness as determined by conducting thicknessgauging<br />

measurement.<br />

1172.05 : Access and Inspection Openings :<br />

(1) Except for those types <strong>of</strong> pressure vessels, where such inspection openings are<br />

impracticable, pressure vessels shall be provided with:<br />

a. suitable manhole, handhole or o<strong>the</strong>r openings or inspection, examination and<br />

cleaning or<br />

b. removable heads or cover plates <strong>of</strong> a size not less than <strong>the</strong> required area <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

openings and located to provide adequate view <strong>of</strong> its interior.<br />

(2) Provisions for manholes and handholes shall be as provided and specified under<br />

ASME requirement based on vessel diameter.<br />

(3) Handhole openings in pressure vessels shall be not less than 70 mm. (2 3/4 in.) in<br />

size.
