Barcelona, April H, 1916.
Kussian barkentine Imperator with cargo timber from
Gulfport, Mississippi, bound for Marseille, France, thrice
shot at by cannon without warning, one taking effect
and vessel subsequently set afire by Austrian submarine
near Columbretes Islands off Spanish Mediterranean
coast April eleventh. Imperator carried two American
citizens in crew, Gustave Olson and Aner Swennsson;
former now in hospital Barcelona with shrapnel wounds.
Swennsson uninjured.
