sent on board the Norwegian steamer Trom-p, which was<br />

just at the time in sight.<br />

"The steamer Lanao belonged originally to the Findlay<br />

Millar Steamship Company, of Manila; it was, however,<br />

sold in July, 1916, to the shipping firm of Hannevig Brothers,<br />

of London, and sailed smce under the English flag.<br />

The owners of the firm of Hannevig Brothers are the sons<br />

of the shipowner Christian Hannevig, of Borre, Norway,<br />

and are, like him, Norwegian subjects.<br />

to communicate the above to the Government of<br />

the United States, and avails himself, etc.<br />

Fifty-two additional survivors Marina landed Castletown<br />

Berehaven, only eighteen now missing, believed:<br />

dead. There were not less than 36 Americans on Marina,<br />

of whom sixteen are safe at Crookhaven. There will<br />

probably be some American fatalities. Survivors state<br />

vessel was torpedoed without warning in heavy sea and<br />

sank in ten minutes. Survivors will not reach Cork<br />

before to-morrow, if then. Will take affidavits when<br />

possible. Vessel was Donaldson liner.<br />
