Capaia
Capaia is situated approximately
15 kilometres from the cool Atlantic Ocean
in the Philadelphia region. Wines are made
exclusively from grapes grown on Capaia
territory. Grapes are harvested at full
ripeness, with great importance placed
on the quality of the skins and pips. Red
grapes are left for natural fermentation
on skins for 30 to 40 days in French oak
casks before being moved to French oak
barrels. The flagship wine and trademark
is Capaia, a cuvée from four of the red
Bordeaux grape varieties.

The Capaia 2007 shows rich, deep flavours of
cassis, cherry fruit, spicy cloves and minerals.
Great, classical Bordeaux-style wine with
fine-grain tannins from ageing in 100% new
French oak for 15 months. This well structured
wine will age beautifully over the next five to
eight years, but the well-integrated tannins
and harmonic balance also make the wine
accessible now.
Chateau Libertas
Chateau Libertas, known affectionately as
the grandfather of South African reds and
celebrating its 80th birthday this year, is
one of South Africa’s longest established
wine labels. First released by Stellenbosch
Farmers’ Winery (SFW) in 1932, it has been
made ever since, changing remarkably
little since its debut. The art of blending
cultivars has achieved the ultimate in
creating a taste and consistency respected
by winelovers all over the world.

This grandfather of South African red wines
has been blended, matured and bottled since
1932. The composition, like that of a Bordeaux
wine, has always been Cabernet in the main,
blended with other soft reds. It won the first of
many international awards, starting with a gold
medal at the Brewers exhibition in London, in
1935. This collection, specially selected from
the Distell Tabernacle to celebrate 80 years of
Chateau Libertas, comprises a bottle each of
the following vintages: 1961, 1962, 1963, 1970,
1978, 1979, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1991, 1992, 1993.
