Meerendal
Meerendal, situated in Durbanville, was one
of the first 14 wine estates to be proclaimed
by the Wine and Spirit Board when the
Wine of Origin legislation was introduced
in 1973. Its unique location and terroir, in
one of the coolest wine regions in the
Western Cape, is ideal for the variety of
noble cultivars planted. The estate exports
its quality wine to more than 12 countries.
It offers visitors a newly opened boutique
hotel, conference facilities, a well-known
restaurant and tasting room.

A fully matured wine from a brilliant vintage.
It is medium red with a tinge of amber on the
edge. The nose is full flavoured with some
notes of red berry, plum and forest mushrooms
and a touch of nuttiness. The wine is silky
smooth on the palate with enough tannin to
keep it going. It is elegant, full-bodied with
a good acidity, layers of flavour and a great
mouth-feel. A long, lingering aftertaste.

Deep, ruby red colour. Intense plum and
blackcurrant flavours jump out of the glass
with some cigar box. The very good tannin
structure supports this rich, fruit-driven wine
with its long aftertaste. Excellent fruit and
oak balance. The wine has great maturation
potential.
