Beaumont Hope Marguerite 2008 –
Sebastian Beaumont
This wine was made to express the pure
character of the grape and the individual
philosophy of Beaumont wines. Only fruit
selected from the oldest Chenin Blanc
vineyard. Intricate and complex, textured
and elegant, with great potential for further
ageing.
Stellenrust “45” 2009 –
Tertius Boshoff
From a 45-year-old single vineyard, this is a
stunning wine with rich quince and almond
fruit, tangy lime core, enhanced by toasty
oak. Delicious and age worthy.
Botanica Chenin Blanc 2009 –
Virginia Povall
From a 50-year-old bush vine vineyard high
in the mountains of Clanwilliam. Subtly
sublime with floral and honeyed tones.
The FMC 2006 –
Ken Forrester and Martin Meinert
From old bush vines, this is one of South
Africa’s benchmark barrel-fermented
Chenins. Rich, silky layers of dried apricot,
vanilla and honey with tangy lime acidity.
Powerful and opulent.
Nederburg Edelkeur 2009 –
Razvan Macici
The orginal Cape Noble Late Harvest.
Opulent dried fruit and honeyed botrytis,
tangy apricot sweetness. A gorgeous,
unoaked wine.
Mullineux Straw Wine 2008 –
Chris and Andrea Mullineux
From 60-year-old bush vines, this wine
elicits savoury tones with apricots, apples
and almonds. Racy acidity, super intense,
but balanced. A masterpiece.
De Grendel
Few places on earth offer such a
spectacular outlook. Situated on high seafacing
slopes, it is the only vineyard in the
country that is 350 metres above sea level
and only 7 kilometres from the sea. Vines
benefit from the western-facing aspect
and the close moderating effects of the
ocean. In its viticulture and winemaking,
De Grendel’s goal is the expression of the
character of this distinctive position. The
cellarmaster is Charles Hopkins and the
winemaker, Elzette du Preez.

Three lots of grapes (from Darling and De
Grendel) were vinified individually as potential
components of Koetshuis and blended
afterwards to ensure complexity and depth.
The flavour spectrum leans more towards the
green side, yet with ripe flavours of capsicum,
asparagus and gooseberries. Supported by a
firm acidity, it is a full-bodied white wine with
a strong and long finish. Ageing potential of
up to three years.

Deep rich ruby red colour. This wine has
brilliant red fruit aromas of plum and
redcurrant. It has a harmonious interplay of
spice fragrance and well-polished tannins, with
an elegant, persistent finish. It is the perfect
partner to lamb, guinea fowl and grilled beef.
