5.2 Contour Approach and Departure<br />

<strong>TNC</strong> <strong>360</strong><br />

End position<br />

The end position, like the starting position, must be<br />

• approachable without collision<br />

• near the last contour point<br />

• located to prevent contour damage during workpiece departure<br />

The best end position E lies on the extension of the tool path. The end<br />

position can be located anywhere outside of the hatch marked area in<br />

Fig. 5.6. It is approached without radius compensation.<br />

Departing the end position in the spindle axis<br />

The spindle axis is moved separately when the end position is departed.<br />

Example: G00 G40 X ... Y ... approaching the end position<br />

Z+50 retracting the tool<br />

Common starting and end position<br />

A common starting and end position SE can be located outside of the<br />

hatch marked area in the figures.<br />

The best common starting and end position lies exactly between the<br />

extensions of the tool paths for machining the first and last contour<br />

elements.<br />

A common starting and end position is approached without radius compensation.<br />
