3.1 POPULATION GROWTH<br />
City Development Plan for Agra City in the state of Uttar Pradesh under <strong>JNNURM</strong><br />
The population of Agra city is 12.75 lakhs as per Census 2001 with a decadal growth rate of<br />
30.37 per cent. During the post-independence period commerce showed a phenomenal<br />
increase with the associated industrial development and establishment of industrial estate,<br />
which resulted in the increase of city population.<br />
In last four decades, the<br />
decadal growth rate was<br />
maximum of 32.15 per cent<br />
during 1971-81 (Table 3.1).<br />

wards of Nagar Nigam for revenue collection purpose are reorganized into 8 revenue wards<br />
(Map 2). Now Agra Nagar Nigam is in the process of further delimiting the wards into 90 for<br />
election purposes.<br />
