Currently, water supply<br />
scheme which is under<br />
execution is under Taj<br />
Trapezium Zone (TTZ)<br />
programme. The scheme<br />
aims at reorganizing the<br />
conveyance mains,<br />
balancing reservoirs, and<br />
distribution system for<br />
uniform and effective<br />
distribution of treated water<br />
and extending the water<br />
supply facility in the newly<br />
developed area. The<br />
estimated pre design cost<br />
of this scheme was Rs.<br />
72.80 crore of which Rs.<br />
61.50 crore worth projects<br />

TTZ programme was initiated in 1997-98 for protection of Taj Mahal. The funding of this<br />
programme is equally shared by Central and State Government. The initial amount agreed<br />
upon was Rs. 600 crore. Funds were placed at disposal of a state level Mission Management<br />
Board (M.M.B) with Chief Secretary as its Chairman. Further in 1999-2000 a Taj Trapezium<br />
Environment Conservation Fund was constituted to ensure availability of funds for schemes<br />
intended to environmental protection of Taj Mahal and placed at the disposal of M.M.B.<br />

6.1.10 Major Issues<br />
15 per cent of the city area is not by piped water network.<br />
In Sikandra-II, Bodla-II, Shahganj-III, Tajganj-II & III, Trans Yamuna-II & Ghatwasan-II the<br />
water requirement is met by Hand pumps and tankers.<br />
The UFW ranges between 40-45 per cent of the total supply, which is very high.<br />
The pressure at tail end is very low.<br />
Excessive water loss due to leaks in water pipes and pipe appurtenances.<br />
Damaged water mains and distribution mains.<br />
95 per cent of the leakages due to service lines.
