2421 - H&G Jan. 8; adv: 2/5 - There will be a public meeting of the
Cuyahoga County Anti-Slavery Society, Tuesday (Tomorrow) at 2 o'clock·
P.M. in the room occupied by the 2d Presbyterian Church, and in the
evening at 1/2 past 6 o'clock, in the Stone church. Several addresses
may be expected. - By order of the Board, H. F. Brayton, Sec'y. (I)
2422 - H&G May 28; ed: 2/1 - The New Orleans court has decided that the
67 negroes claimed as fugitive slaves by the Georgians should be given
up to them, notwithstanding the fact that they were on the way to the
west with the Seminoles under charge of Gen. Gaines.
"The Georgians, not satisfied with robbing the Indians of their
lands, are now claiming the negroes captured with tbe Seminoles." (I)
2423 • H&G July 3:2/4 • Anniversary. The first annual meeting of the
Cuyahoga county Anti-Slavery Society will be beld in the Stone church,
tomorrow, (4th of July) at 3 o'clock, P.M. By order of the Board.

County Anti-Slavery Society, will be held in the Stone church on Wednes·

2425 • H&G Sept. 23: 2/3-5 - In a letter to the editor, H. F. Brayton
says: Will you publish the following correspondence in your paper and
oblige the Cuyahoga County Anti-Slavery Society? A similar letter was
addressed to John Barr, Esq., who declines to give an answer.
To Leverett Johnson, Esq. - Dear Sir: • Are you in favor of repealing
the Laws of the State of Ohio, regulating black and mulatto persons?

In any political point of view, therefore, that I have been able to
take of the Statute law referred to, (to say nothing of the immutable
laws of Justice.) I am irresistibly brought to the conclusion that they
are in direct contravention of the Constitution of the State of Ohio,
and therefore ought to be repealed.
