transferred to Perlay Shirtcliff & Co. Carried.
Mr. Hall moved that the ordinance to loan money for school purposes,

Claims presented: Of E. Armstrong for teaching school, amount
$102.59; of John Wills; referred. Of Mrs. Pelton for teaching school,
amount $80; of Mary A. Wheeler, S. Collins, A. N. Gray, M. T. Fullerton,
L. E. Southworth, A. Read,· Julia Butler; all for school purposes;
allowed; of J. F. Hanks, referred.
Tbe petition of Stedman & Holt was presented, and referred to the
committee on markets.
Reports: Mr. Hall, from the committee on claims, reported in favor
of the claims of John Wills for work done on Erie, Merwin, Bridge, Lake,
Lighthouse, and Huron streets, and Superior Lane; of A. Hickox, and the
Cleveland ADVERTISER; agreed to.
Mr. Hall offered the following:
Resolved, That the street supervisor be instructed to fill up the
gulf near J. Wandall's grocery, 'in such manner as to render it safe for
the travelling public; referred to a committee consisting of Messrs.
Case and Dockstader.
On motion of Mr. Hall the ordinance to vacate a part of St. Clair
Lane was taken up, and after some discussion laid on the table. (a)

Colahan reported in favor of granting a license to S. Remington •
agreed to and the amount fixed at $17.50.
Lemen reported in favor of furnishing proposed Fire Co., No.2, with
new coats. Agreed to.
Harrington from the committee on Markets reported in favor of the
petition of Stedman and Holt. Agreed to.
Hall reported in favor of the claim of John Mills for $53.73. Agreed
to.
Andrews offered a resolution that the commissioners named in the
ordinance authorising a loan for the purchase of lots and the erection of
school houses be requested to take immediate steps to ascertain upon what
terms the loan can be negotiated. Agreed to.
Hall· presented a preamble and resolution requesting the commissioners
appointed by the council to appropriate $202,000 for the Cleveland,
Warren, and Pi ttsburgh Rai 1 Road to report what has been done and what
is in contemplation. Agreed to. (5)
