Internet Applications Development 3 credits<br />
(Prerequisites: EC 361, EC 362) An introduction<br />
to existing and evolving Internet<br />
technologies needed for E-commerce-site<br />
development and management. Topics<br />
include: Windows NT, Internet information<br />
server, index and transaction servers,<br />
object-oriented paradigm, client and serverside<br />
scripting, active server page, enterprise<br />
data access, domain name service, and<br />
trends in web-development tools.<br />
Emphasizes applications <strong>of</strong> the technology,<br />
case studies and provides hands-on experience<br />
by having students develop a working<br />
electronic business site.<br />

Projects in Electronic Business 3 credits<br />
(Prerequisite: EC 461) In this course, students<br />
will develop an E-commerce project<br />
that will be used to conduct online business.<br />
<strong>The</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> this course is to synthesize the<br />
Internet-related technologies and the business<br />
knowledge acquired in different courses to<br />
develop a working electronic commerce site.<br />
Students will work in a team-oriented environment<br />
under the guidance <strong>of</strong> the instructor.<br />
Students will design, develop, implement, and<br />
operate a secure, content-rich electronic commerce<br />
web site to attract and retain customers.<br />
EC 470 Dr. Chattopadhyay<br />
Supply Chain Management 3 credits<br />
(Prerequisite: OIM 352 or permission <strong>of</strong><br />
the instructor) This course integrates two<br />
powerful trends that are critical management<br />
imperatives: Supply-Chain<br />
Management and Electronic Business. <strong>The</strong><br />
students will learn how the principles <strong>of</strong><br />
supply-chain management integrate into the<br />
“real-time” environment <strong>of</strong> e-business and<br />
examine case studies <strong>of</strong> such implementations.<br />
Latest s<strong>of</strong>tware and technology will<br />
be discussed and examples demonstrated on<br />
the SAP R/3 platform available at KSOM.<br />

Systems Security & Ethics<br />
(Prerequisites: EC 361, EC 362) <strong>The</strong> course<br />
provides students with an understanding <strong>of</strong><br />
the technical, managerial, legal and ethical<br />
issues to build, operate and manage E-commerce<br />
solutions. Topics include: web-server<br />
and client security; secure transactions and<br />
payments; information security; digital certificates<br />
and practices; civil and criminal<br />
legal issues; morality and ethical issues;<br />
intellectual property and patents; governmental<br />
regulations and policies; and emerging<br />
technologies and standards. (EC 471 and AIS<br />
381 are <strong>of</strong>fered jointly.)<br />

Electronic Business 3 credits<br />
and Entrepreneurship<br />
(Prerequisites: EC 361, EC 362) This course<br />
links E-commerce with entrepreneurship.<br />
<strong>The</strong> convergence <strong>of</strong> information and communication<br />
technologies has created numerous<br />
opportunities to entrepreneurs to start new<br />
and innovative businesses based on electronic<br />
commerce. It examines the issues related<br />
to the starting and establishment <strong>of</strong> new businesses<br />
based on E-commerce. <strong>The</strong> course<br />
comprises three parts. <strong>The</strong> first part focuses<br />
on issues related to the establishment <strong>of</strong> a<br />
new business and entrepreneurship. <strong>The</strong> second<br />
part examines the business issues related<br />
to E-commerce including the development <strong>of</strong><br />
business models and plans. In the last part,<br />
students will develop and establish small Ecommerce<br />
businesses from start to finish.<br />

(Prerequisite: OIM 471) Use <strong>of</strong> computer<br />
and telecommunication networks to achieve<br />
organizational goals. Topics include data<br />
communications; planning and design <strong>of</strong><br />
communication networks; data integrity,<br />
independence and security; client-server computing;<br />
global communication; the Internet;<br />
applications <strong>of</strong> telecommunication networks<br />
and current issues and future trends. (EC 473,<br />
