ADMISSION<br />

<strong>The</strong> Admissions Committee <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong> will make the final decision<br />

on applications for admission. In reaching this decision, the committee will consider a number<br />

<strong>of</strong> factors: demonstrated evidence <strong>of</strong> a student’s academic ability, intellectual curiosity,<br />

strength <strong>of</strong> character and motivation; the student’s high school record, class rank, and<br />

extracurricular activities; SAT and/or ACT scores.<br />

STEPS IN SUBMITTING MAKING APPLICATION<br />

Requests for an application form and all correspondence dealing with admission to <strong>The</strong><br />

College <strong>of</strong> Arts and Sciences, <strong>The</strong> Panuska College <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Studies or <strong>The</strong> Kania<br />

School <strong>of</strong> Management should be directed to:<br />

A non-refundable fee <strong>of</strong> $40.00 should accompany the application. No fee is charged<br />

for on-line applications submitted via the <strong>University</strong> web site. Students should apply during<br />

the first semester <strong>of</strong> their senior year <strong>of</strong> high school. <strong>The</strong> early-action deadline is November<br />

15th. For all applicants other than those in Physical <strong>The</strong>rapy, early-action <strong>of</strong>fers will be<br />

made on December 15th. From that time on, all applications will be reviewed on a rolling<br />

basis with a four-week turn around and a preferred final application deadline <strong>of</strong> March 1st.<br />

All Physical <strong>The</strong>rapy applications must be completed and received by December 15th for a<br />

January 15th decision and a February 15th priority confirmation.<br />

<strong>The</strong> application form should be completed and the entire form given to the guidance<br />

counselor <strong>of</strong> the high school who will forward high school grades to the <strong>University</strong>.<br />

<strong>The</strong> SAT I: Reasoning Test (College Entrance Examination Board) or the ACT Test<br />

(American College Testing) is required <strong>of</strong> all applicants. <strong>The</strong>se tests should be taken during<br />

the junior year and/or senior year <strong>of</strong> high school. During Summer Orientation, the<br />

<strong>University</strong> administers its own placement tests. <strong>The</strong>refore, applicants are not required to<br />

take the SAT II.<br />

A non-refundable class reservation fee <strong>of</strong> $150.00 is required <strong>of</strong> all accepted applicants.<br />

In addition, accepted resident freshmen will make a non-refundable room deposit <strong>of</strong><br />

$150.00 upon notice from the Director <strong>of</strong> Admissions.<br />

Occupational <strong>The</strong>rapy and Physical <strong>The</strong>rapy applicants must submit documentation<br />

attesting to observation work done in their chosen field.<br />
