REFUNDS<br />

If a student is authorized to withdraw with honorable standing from the <strong>University</strong> for a<br />

good cause, a written request may be made for reduced charges for tuition, board and room<br />

fees. (Note should be taken that the student may not demand a refund as a matter <strong>of</strong> right.)<br />

Ordinarily, laboratory and special service fees are not refundable.* Students who entered the<br />

<strong>University</strong> prior to fall 1996 and who withdraw from individual courses are also eligible to<br />

receive credit on their account with the <strong>University</strong> according to the schedule given below.<br />

SCHEDULE OF REFUNDS<br />

FALL/SPRING SEMESTER CREDIT<br />

Before the first day <strong>of</strong> classes and<br />

To and including 10 calendar days 100%<br />

To and including 17 calendar days 75 %<br />

To and including 24 calendar days 50%<br />

To and including 31 calendar days 25 %<br />

Beyond 31 calendar days <strong>of</strong> the semester no refund<br />

INTERSESSION/SUMMER SESSIONS CREDIT<br />

Before the first day <strong>of</strong> classes and<br />

To and including 2 calendar days 100%<br />

To and including 4 calendar days 50%<br />

Beyond 4 calendar days <strong>of</strong> the session no refund<br />

* Note: Students billed flat tuition (those entering the <strong>University</strong> in fall 1996 or later) will<br />

also be eligible for a refund if their total course load after the dropped course(s) falls below<br />

the flat-tuition minimum credit load, or their course load prior to dropping the course(s) was<br />

greater than the flat-tuition maximum credit load <strong>of</strong> 18 credits. <strong>The</strong> formula used to calculate<br />

refunds for students billed under flat tuition will be available from the Bursar’s <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

FINANCIAL AID REFUND POLICY<br />

In accordance with federal regulations, those students who receive federal financial aid and<br />

who completely withdraw from the <strong>University</strong> during the first 60% <strong>of</strong> a semester will have<br />

their federal financial aid (Pell Grants, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants,<br />

Perkins Loans, Stafford Loans and PLUS Loans) adjusted based on the percent <strong>of</strong> the semester<br />

completed prior to the withdrawal. That is, students will be entitled to retain the same<br />

percent <strong>of</strong> the federal financial aid received as the percent <strong>of</strong> the semester completed. <strong>The</strong><br />

date <strong>of</strong> withdrawal will be the date the student begins the withdrawal process in accordance<br />

with the <strong>of</strong>ficial procedures outlined in the catalog. <strong>The</strong>re will be no adjustment to federal<br />

financial aid after 60% <strong>of</strong> the semester is completed. Students that must totally withdraw<br />

from school should consult with the Financial Aid Office on how the refund policy<br />

applies to their situation.<br />
