Both divisions enhanced their national accounts programs.<br />

Furthermore, both divisions significantly improved their web<br />

sites, and a number of e-commerce projects were initialized.<br />

Investments<br />

Investments in the Rental Service business area mainly related<br />

to the replacement or expansion of the rental fleet and acquisitions<br />

of small add-on companies.<br />

During <strong>1999</strong> investments totaled SEK 2,125 m. (1,124) of<br />

which approximately SEK 910 m. related to replacement investments<br />

in the rental fleet, SEK 970 m. to expansion of the rental<br />

fleet and SEK 245 m. to investments in property and equipment.<br />

The average age of the rental fleet was approximately 2.6<br />

years at the end of <strong>1999</strong>.<br />

Training<br />

The pronounced service component in every aspect of the business<br />

makes training and development of the employees a key<br />

activity. The multi-location set up of the business gives great<br />

opportunities for the employees to come early in the career into<br />

a managerial position. Training is also a crucial success factor.<br />

Programs are carried out in areas such as customer service, service<br />

and safety, inside sales, communications, and territory management,<br />

and a train the trainer concept is well developed.<br />

Market outlook<br />

The North American demand for equipment rental and related<br />

services is foreseen to grow at a faster pace than the North American<br />

economy as a whole, and mainly driven by the continued<br />

outsourcing trend.<br />
