About <strong>FDCL</strong><br />
is a nonprofitorganization,<br />
which was founded in 1974. With<br />
its activities <strong>FDCL</strong> wants to promote<br />
the exchange of knowledge and information<br />
on issues related to Latin<br />
America within politics, humanities,<br />
culture and education and in this way<br />
contribute to a mutual understanding<br />
of the people across borders. It sees<br />
itself as part of the German solidarity<br />
movement and serves as an information<br />
and communication center for<br />
individuals and groups who want to<br />
gather information on Latin America<br />
or become active and work on a<br />
specific topic. Many different solidar-<br />
ity groups, country committees, groups of migrants, media projects<br />
related to Latin America (like the Latin American News (Lateinamerika<br />
Nachrichten)) and initiatives dealing with development aid work “under<br />
the roof” of <strong>FDCL</strong>.<br />
<strong>FDCL</strong> sees its solidarity and information work regarding Latin<br />
America as inseparable from the entitlement to help shape politics here<br />
“at home.” As a part of this, the issue of human rights is a special focus<br />
of <strong>FDCL</strong>’s work. With respect to development issues, apart from the<br />
