Script Settings
FotoWeb’s face out to the clients is through the FWX templates. These templates allow great
customizations, but are also very vulnerable to design errors that may occur during customizations.
The design errors can be anything from usage of a wrong tag at wrong place to simple typos. FotoWeb
supplies a detailed documentation of the tags available in FotoWeb and rules for their usage.
FotoWeb comes with a built-in module that controls the validity of these templates. This module analyses
the templates and reports error details if any. To enhance the security around templates, each template
is validated with this module once after FotoWeb start up and once every time a template is modified on
disk while FotoWeb is running. This process is called Runtime Analysis and can be enabled on this page.
There are multiple ways to handle errors reported by Runtime Analysis as described below. However,
these actions do not modify or correct the errors in the templates themselves. These changes are only
kept in memory until next time FotoWeb is restarted. To permanently remove the errors, you must run
the validation module manually by right clicking the site node and selecting All Tasks | Verify Templates.
Do runtime analysis
This option enables the analysis of template files before they are executed in FotoWeb. This process adds
significant processing to the loading of a template. The process is only done once for every template
(when the template is first loaded). If the template is modified on the disk, it will be reloaded and the
analysis will be performed again.
Auto update
This option enables automatic correction of the templates. All known problems will be automatically
corrected. This ensures that templates written for older versions of FotoWeb can be used on new versions
without any conversion work.
Remove invalid
If enabled, FotoWeb will remove any unknown tags or variables from the code. This may lead to an
incorrect Html page being produced, but FotoWeb will still process the page. If this option is disabled
and an invalid command is found, FotoWeb will report an error to the user.
