The availability of electric power, gas, water, and sewer lines to an airport must be considered in<br />

evaluating the existing utility conditions. The public water distribution and sanitary sewage system<br />

are significant governmental responsibilities and capital investments in a new or expanding area.<br />

Natural gas and electricity services are normally provided by the private sector in most areas.<br />

1.6.6.1 Water and Sewer<br />

The <strong>Lansing</strong> Board of Water and Light provides the water and sewer service to the commercial<br />

passenger terminal and general aviation facilities located on the southern end of <strong>Capital</strong> <strong>City</strong><br />

<strong>Airport</strong>. An on-sight well and septic tank provide water and sewer service to the ARFF and<br />

maintenance facilities at <strong>Capital</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>Airport</strong>.<br />

1.6.6.2 Gas and Electric<br />

Consumers Energy provides gas and electric service to the <strong>Airport</strong>.<br />

1.6.6.3 Storm Water Drainage<br />

The facility Preventative Maintenance Program includes inspection of all equipment, storage<br />

vessels, and storm water control devices on a regular basis. Any conditions observed during the<br />

inspection that could cause discharges of significant materials to surface or storm water, will be<br />

corrected as part of the Preventative Maintenance Program.<br />

1.7 Surface Access<br />

Convenient, simple, and efficient access to the passenger terminal is an integral part of the airport<br />

system. It is necessary that surface access be easy to follow and find for originating and<br />

terminating passengers. The airport surface access system consists of the following segments:<br />
