Was habe ich gesehen!…ohne es zu wissen,<br />
umarmt die Mutter den Sohn.<br />
Oh, welch unbekannte Sprachen<br />
haben die Regungen der Natur!<br />
Wenn ich sp<strong>re</strong>che, befürchte ich, dass die Mutterliebe<br />
das Geheimnis doch noch verrät.<br />
Besser ist’s jetzt <strong>al</strong>les zu verschweigen. Und wenn die Zeit<br />
gekommen ist, werde ich verkünden, was ich getan habe.<br />

Meist, wenn man schweigt,<br />
meidet man die Gefahr, zu ir<strong>re</strong>n,<br />
und es ist der beste Rat,<br />
dass nur die Liebe spricht.<br />
Je mehr man ihn verborgen hält<br />

Better to keep <strong>al</strong>l hidden now<br />
and <strong>re</strong>ve<strong>al</strong> my actions when the time comes.<br />

Often taking <strong>re</strong>fuge in silence<br />
one runs every danger<br />
and it is better counsel<br />
that love <strong>al</strong>one speak..<br />
