differentiated from G. agassizii in Arizona <strong>and</strong> California. <strong>The</strong><br />

Alamos specimens differed from other specimens <strong>of</strong> Gopherus in<br />

the ratios <strong>of</strong> plastron width <strong>and</strong> length, shell depth <strong>and</strong> plastron<br />

length, <strong>and</strong> hind foot diameter <strong>and</strong> head width. One specimen was<br />

reported from <strong>Sinaloa</strong> (Loomis <strong>and</strong>Geest, 1964:203).<br />

Distribution in <strong>Sinaloa</strong>.—Known only from the northern foothills.<br />

Remarks.—This widely distributed species has been reported only<br />

from the southern coast <strong>and</strong> from adjacent Baja California.<br />

Distribution in <strong>Sinaloa</strong>.—Known only from the coast at Mazatlan,<br />

Chelonia mydas carrinegra Caldwell, Contrib. in Sci., Los Angeles County<br />

Mus., 61:4, December 7, 1962 (type locality, waters adjacent to Isla<br />

Angel de la Guarda, Gulf <strong>of</strong> California, Baja California).<br />

Remarks.—Green sea turtles have been taken in the Gulf <strong>of</strong> California<br />

<strong>and</strong> Pacific Oceans from Sonora southward to Michoacan,<br />

<strong>Mexico</strong>. This species apparently is abundant (Carr, 1961:68) <strong>and</strong> a<br />

valuable food source in some portions <strong>of</strong> the state.<br />

Distribution in <strong>Sinaloa</strong>.—In waters <strong>of</strong>f the coast. See Fig. 38.<br />

Specimens examined.—None.<br />
