Phrynosoma solare Gray<br />

Phrynosoma solaris Gray, Catalogue Lizards Brit. Mus. Nat. Hist,, p. 229,<br />

1845 (type locality, California).<br />

Remarks.—Five specimens agree with the diagnosis given by<br />

Reeve (1952:907) with the exception that the ventral scales are not<br />

distinctly keeled. Measurements are as follows: (two males) snoutvent<br />

length 72, 40; tail 40, 14; tail/snout-vent length 0.56, 0.35;<br />

(three females) snout-vent 78, 61, 34; tail 31, 28, 11; tail/snout-vent<br />

length 0.40, 0.46, <strong>and</strong> 0.32. Horned lizards, known from areas <strong>of</strong><br />

thorn woodl<strong>and</strong>, reach their southern limit <strong>of</strong> distribution in central<br />

<strong>Sinaloa</strong>.<br />

Distribution in <strong>Sinaloa</strong>.—Northern part <strong>of</strong> the state (north <strong>of</strong><br />

Terreros). See Fig. 46.<br />

Fuerte, 150 m. (*KU 77809); 11 mi. S Guamuchil (CSCLB 1980); 10 km.<br />

Terreros (LACM 6615); 4 mi. W Terreros (LACM 6616); 13 km. NNE Vaca,<br />

400 m. (°KU 80716-18).<br />

Sceloporus bull en Boulenger<br />

Sceloporus bulleri Boulenger, Proc. Zool. Soc. London, p. 729, pi. 48, fig. 3,<br />

December 4, 1894 (type locality, La Cumbre de los Arrastrados, Jalisco).<br />

Remarks.—Twenty-eight males have the following characteristics:<br />

dorsal scales 38-45 (40.5); middorsal scales in black collar 3-5.5 (4);<br />

total femoral pores (excluding KU 44746) 31-40 (35.7); snout-vent<br />

length 42-102 (63.6); tail length 81-130 (93.7) (N = 7; KU 44756,<br />

75542, 78627, 78633, 78638-40); snout-vent/tail 0.62-0.68 (0.66).<br />

Ten males have the white anterior edge <strong>of</strong> the black collar broken<br />

middorsally; in 18 the white edge is complete. <strong>The</strong> corresponding<br />

characteristics <strong>of</strong> 12 females are, respectively: 36-42 (39.6); 3-6 (4);<br />

30-37 (33.3); 48-91 (64.8) (excluding KU 78634); 85-135 (103.3)<br />

(N = 3; KU 75540, 78628, 78643); 0.61-0.67 (0.65). <strong>The</strong> white<br />

anterior edge is broken medially in 5, unbroken in 7.<br />

<strong>The</strong> color <strong>of</strong> an adult male (LACM 6672) is as follows: top <strong>of</strong><br />

head brownish olive with spots <strong>of</strong> pale green; collar velvet black,
