Remarks.—Adult iguanas were observed on several occasions sunning<br />

in the tops <strong>of</strong> trees along the rivers in southern <strong>Sinaloa</strong>. Large<br />

males (more than 1500 mm. in total length) have extensive areas <strong>of</strong><br />

orange color on their head <strong>and</strong> dewlap. Females contain well developed<br />

ova in February <strong>and</strong> March. Two females are 120 <strong>and</strong> 205<br />

mm. <strong>and</strong> four males are 88, 117, 210, <strong>and</strong> 220 mm. in snout-vent<br />

length. Iguanas are very abundant in some parts <strong>of</strong> <strong>Sinaloa</strong>. More<br />

than 500 specimens, mostly juveniles, were brought to us by local<br />

people at Teacapan between August 29 <strong>and</strong> September 5, 1962.<br />

Distribution in <strong>Sinaloa</strong>.—Known only from the lowl<strong>and</strong>s north<br />

to Costa Rica. See Fig. 42.<br />
