Iguana iguana rhinolopha Wiegmann

Remarks.—Adult iguanas were observed on several occasions sunning
in the tops of trees along the rivers in southern Sinaloa. Large
males (more than 1500 mm. in total length) have extensive areas of
orange color on their head and dewlap. Females contain well developed
ova in February and March. Two females are 120 and 205
mm. and four males are 88, 117, 210, and 220 mm. in snout-vent
length. Iguanas are very abundant in some parts of Sinaloa. More
than 500 specimens, mostly juveniles, were brought to us by local
people at Teacapan between August 29 and September 5, 1962.
Distribution in Sinaloa.—Known only from the lowlands north
to Costa Rica. See Fig. 42.
