Remarks.—This species has been reported from several localities<br />

on the Pacific coast, <strong>and</strong> ranges as far northward as Tiburon Isl<strong>and</strong>,<br />

Sonora (Bogert <strong>and</strong> Oliver, 1945:417).<br />

Distribution in <strong>Sinaloa</strong>.—Entire Pacific coast. See Fig. 38.<br />

Remarks.—<strong>The</strong> leather back turtle has been taken occasionally<br />

in the Gulf <strong>of</strong> California (Caldwell, 1962:25). Although there are<br />

no known records from the coast <strong>of</strong> <strong>Sinaloa</strong>, a record from Guaymas,<br />

Sonora (Smith <strong>and</strong> Taylor, 1950b: 13) suggests its presence in the<br />

state. Dermochelys is included here in the herpet<strong>of</strong>auna <strong>of</strong> <strong>Sinaloa</strong>,<br />

pending evidence to the contrary.<br />

Distribution in <strong>Sinaloa</strong>.—In waters <strong>of</strong>f the coast.<br />
