PROVISIONS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND CHARGES
Changes in provisions for contingencies and charges for the period were
as follows:
In line with the principles described in Note 1.5, a provision for currency risks
of €2.1 million was recorded at 31 December 2010.
A €17.7 million provision for unrealised losses on stock options was recorded
to cover the outflow of resources arising from exercise of the options granted
under current plans.
Tax savings resulting from group relief for tax losses incurred by certain
companies in the tax group will be transferred back to the companies
concerned if and when they return to profit. They are covered by a provision
for an aggregate amount of €121.7 million at 31 December 2010.
