Acknowledgements<br />
The EarthEnterprise project was undertaken by IISD staff and a group of<br />
consultants and collaborators. Overall direction came from Arthur J. Hanson,<br />
President and CEO of IISD. Lloyd McGinnis, the founding Chairman of IISD’s<br />
Board of Directors, helped start the project and provided an initial framework.<br />
• Stephan Barg, who is responsible <strong>for</strong> IISD’s Business and Government<br />
Program, directed the project and participated in its conceptualization and<br />
development.<br />
• Rob Kerr was responsible <strong>for</strong> managing all aspects of the project, from<br />
d eveloping the concept to delivering the products and finding the<br />
customers. Without his persistent ef<strong>for</strong>ts, EarthEnterprise would not exist<br />
in its present <strong>for</strong>m.<br />
• Cynthia Pollock Shea joined IISD during the project and contributed her<br />
vast knowledge of the field, particularly of green procurement and new<br />
business practices. Her research and writing skills proved invaluable.<br />
• Susan Miskiman managed the support services necessary <strong>for</strong> such a<br />
complex project, with the assistance and hard work of Thérèse Laberge.<br />
• Other IISD staff members — Don Berg, Bonnie Bisnett, Frank Cosway,<br />
Monique Ferguson, Carole Quenelle, and Julie Wagemakers — provided<br />
substantial assistance at various stages of the work.<br />
• Beatrice Olivastri, of the firm Olivastri and Associates (Moose Creek,<br />
Ontario), worked almost full time with IISD and assisted in managing the<br />
project from conception to delivery. Her good nature and creativity brought<br />
the project to life.<br />
• G a ry Lew i s , of The Hartman Group (Newport Beach, C a l i f o r n i a ) ,<br />
contributed extensive knowledge of green consumer markets and strong<br />
experience with consumer-oriented entrepreneurial firms. He had primary<br />
responsibility <strong>for</strong> the consumer markets section.<br />
• Brian Kelly had primary responsibility <strong>for</strong> the technology section, and<br />
developed the idea of the “technology tree” while working at Marbek<br />
Resource Consultants in Ottawa. Kelly is now Director of Environment and<br />
<strong>Sustainable</strong> Development at Ontario Hydro, where he is responsible <strong>for</strong><br />
overseeing the implementation of sustainable energy development and use<br />
programs.<br />
• Chris Henderson, of the Delphi Group (Ottawa, Vancouver and London,<br />
England), contributed business and fund management experience, as well<br />
as a wide range of contacts in the financial services industry. He had<br />
primary responsibility <strong>for</strong> the investment section.<br />
