venture capital company with $50<br />
million of available capital. Its<br />
founding shareholders are the<br />
Caisse de dépôt et placement du<br />
Québec, Investissement Desjardins,<br />
the pension funds of Bombardier<br />
and de Havilland, the Fonds de<br />
solidarité des travailleurs du<br />
Québec, Hydro-Québec, the Société<br />
Innovatech du Grand Montréal, and<br />
Technocap’s manager, Richard<br />
Prytula.The amount of investments<br />
will range from $250,000 to $2.5<br />
million. Investments will target<br />
companies at the start-up stage as<br />
well as those that want to expand.<br />
While Technocap is Montreal-based,<br />
it does not have a geographic<br />
restriction.<br />
Investment Interests<br />
Technocap focuses on businesses<br />
engaged in technology sectors,<br />
particularly in<strong>for</strong>mation technology<br />
and telecommunications, computer<br />
systems and software, electronics<br />
and instrumentation, energy,<br />
environment, and health. Technocap<br />
will invest primarily in small and<br />
medium sized businesses seeking<br />
an active partner in their<br />
development. Technocap focuses on<br />
companies that will benefit from its<br />
expertise and business networks.<br />
Technocap can provide added value<br />
by contributing to the development<br />
of a company’s commercial and<br />
financial strategies. For the<br />
sustainable entrepreneur engaged<br />
in environmental research,<br />
