d) Check containers <strong>of</strong> batteries for cracks.<br />

e) Tighten the terminals and apply Vaseline to terminal studs and nuts.<br />

f) Check the arc chutes <strong>of</strong> CGR for proper fixing and any signs <strong>of</strong> damage.<br />

g) Measure contact gap, check wear limit, if necessary replace contacts.<br />

h) Check transformer bushings for cracks.<br />

i) Check capacitors and resistors, clean condenser tube, surge absorber with dry<br />

cloth, check connections.<br />

j) Check reverser J and CTF (<strong>Traction</strong> braking contactor) for free movement, air<br />

leakage.<br />

k) Measure the clearance <strong>of</strong> ro<strong>of</strong> spark gaps.<br />

Section E3<br />

ET 1 - 210 mm (range 200 - 250mm)<br />

ET 2 - 70 mm (range 70 - 125mm)<br />

a) Carry out a visual check <strong>of</strong> the traction motors for condition <strong>of</strong> the commutators,<br />

signs <strong>of</strong> any abnormality like flash over etc.<br />

b) Check brush holders and brushes.<br />

c) Check connections for tightness.<br />

d) Clean and blow out with compressed air,<br />

e) Check commutator and brushes <strong>of</strong> auxiliary compressor.<br />

f) Check other auxiliary machines including Arno converter for tightness <strong>of</strong><br />

connections and foundation bolts.<br />

Section E4<br />

a) Check speedometer calibration renew charts.<br />

b) Visually check contact pressure and clean contacts <strong>of</strong> relays.<br />

c) Check time setting and operation <strong>of</strong> time delay relay.<br />

d) Check and clean insulators and inspect secondary contacts <strong>of</strong> air-blast circuit<br />

breaker.<br />

e) Drain the air reservoir <strong>of</strong> circuit breaker.<br />

v) Lubricate the isolating contacts by graphite grease and test the air-blast circuit<br />

breaker for proper operation.<br />

8.7 TWO MONTHLY INSPECTION (IB)<br />

The items listed below are in addition to those covered under IA. Tests before and after<br />

inspection will are as listed under IA:
