1.3.9 Catalytic transamidation
Carboxamide group is known to be chemically stable and cannot undergo reversible reactions
under normal reaction conditions. Stahl and co-workers reported an efficient strategy, which
promotes transamidation mediated by catalysts under moderate reaction conditions (Figure
1.14). 53 The transamidation reaction took place in toluene in the presence of a Lewis-acid
catalyst such as Ti(NMe 2 ) 4 , Al 2 (NMe 2 ) 6 and Sc(OTf) 3 (OTf, trifluoromethane sulfonate).
