<strong>Historic</strong> Significance: This building is significant because it is one <strong>of</strong><br />

eight buildings in the survey area classified· as "No style" <strong>and</strong><br />

demonstrates <strong>Juneau</strong>'s vernacular forms <strong>and</strong> because it demonstrates<br />

patterns <strong>of</strong> community development in <strong>Juneau</strong>, Alaska. The home was<br />

built by contractor William H. Clevel<strong>and</strong>. The home was occupied by the<br />

HermIe family in the 1930's. John HermIe was owner <strong>of</strong> "Home Grocery"<br />

<strong>and</strong> "Home Liquor" store.<br />
