42 Craftsman build.ingsinthe survey area which demonstrates Juneau's
vernacular interpretation of national styles, because of its
association with mining executive, Benjamin D. Stewart, and because it
demonstrates patterns of community development in Juneau, Alaska. The
home was constructed for the Stewart family. stewart was employed by
the A.J. Mine, the united states Geological Survey, as mayor of Juneau
in 1916, and as Territorial Mine Inspector from 1919 to 1929.
