association with mining executive, Benjamin D. Stewart, <strong>and</strong> because it<br />

demonstrates patterns <strong>of</strong> community development in <strong>Juneau</strong>, Alaska. The<br />

home was constructed for the Stewart family. stewart was employed by<br />

the A.J. Mine, the united states Geological <strong>Survey</strong>, as mayor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Juneau</strong><br />

in 1916, <strong>and</strong> as Territorial Mine Inspector from 1919 to 1929.<br />
