<strong>Historic</strong> Significance: This building is significant because it is the<br />
only Classical ~evival building in the survey area which demonstrates<br />
<strong>Juneau</strong>'s vernacular interpretation <strong>of</strong> national styles, because <strong>of</strong> its<br />
association with Territorial government figure, WilliamE. Britt, <strong>and</strong><br />
because it .demonstrates patterns <strong>of</strong> community development in <strong>Juneau</strong>,<br />
Alaska. Britt was a pharmacist who opened a store in. <strong>Juneau</strong> c.1913.<br />
He was appointed Vice-Counsel for Norway in 1916. He served on the<br />
city council <strong>and</strong> was a member <strong>of</strong> the Territorial House <strong>of</strong><br />
Representatives in 1915-1917.<br />
