Historic Significance: This building is significant because it is one of
seven Colonial Revival buildings in the survey area which demonstrates
Juneau's vernacular interpretation· of national styles, because of its
association with Territorial government figure Herbert Faulkner who
was also a legal representative for .the AJMining Company, and because
it demonstrates patterns.of community development in Juneau, Alaska.
The property was originally.owned by Bart Thane's sister, Laura Thane
Whipple who deeded the land to physician>and surgeon Dr. Leonard
Sloane in 1915. The house was built she>rtly afterwards. Circa 1918,
Faulkner purchased the property.
