<strong>Historic</strong> Significance: This building is significant because it is one <strong>of</strong><br />
seven Colonial Revival buildings in the survey area which demonstrates<br />
<strong>Juneau</strong>'s vernacular interpretation· <strong>of</strong> national styles, because <strong>of</strong> its<br />
association with Territorial government figure Herbert Faulkner who<br />
was also a legal representative for .the AJMining Company, <strong>and</strong> because<br />
it demonstrates patterns.<strong>of</strong> community development in <strong>Juneau</strong>, Alaska.<br />
The property was originally.owned by Bart Thane's sister, Laura Thane<br />
Whipple who deeded the l<strong>and</strong> to physician><strong>and</strong> surgeon Dr. Leonard<br />
Sloane in 1915. The house was built she>rtly afterwards. Circa 1918,<br />
Faulkner purchased the property.<br />
