42 Craftsman buildings in the survey area which demonstrate <strong>Juneau</strong>'s<br />
vernacular interpretation <strong>of</strong> national styles,because<strong>of</strong> its<br />
association.with A.J. Mine employee, Morrell Macspadden, <strong>and</strong> because<br />
it demonstrates •• patterns <strong>of</strong> community development •• in.<strong>Juneau</strong>, Alaska.<br />
Macspadden lived here by 1924. He worked asa laborer, mine<br />
contractor (he drove tunnels), <strong>and</strong> as a cost accountant in 1923-1932<br />
for the A.J. Mine. In the 1950/s he served as mayor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Juneau</strong> <strong>and</strong> was<br />
elected to the Territorial House <strong>of</strong> Representatives.<br />
