The beginning of the century was the period of rapid
developments for the Albanian nation. The struggle for
freedom and independence recrudesced along with the
language protection and the development of the Albanian
education. Following the Congress of Manastir (Bitola), the
aptitude of the Albanians to stay consistent to the decisions
taken, as those of the Congress, was tested.
The Albanian press at the time, at home and abroad, became
a reflection of the interest of the Albanians to develop and
preserve their language and culture. The mission of the
publishers was the unification, the inclusion of culture,
customs and traditions, as well as the cohabitation of
language dialects under the Latin alphabet.

Newspapers, for instance: “Sun” (Boston), “Adriatic”
(Korce), “The Nation” (Boston), “Besa” (Constantinople),
“The Shcypeniis Shpnesa” (Rome), “Relationship orthodox”
(Korce), and books published at home and abroad, indicate
the coexistence of both Albanian dialects, as well as the
understanding among Albanians, mostly intellectuals,
from different regions.
This paper highlights the purity and the culture of the
language in the press at the time, its ethics and respect for
the language dialect of the scribblers. This research also
takes an approach to assess and compare the language
norm at the time with the norm today.
