promoter of passion for work
Prof. Dr. Shefik Osmani
It is very difficult to speak about the nobleman of science, the
founder of the Albanian Institute of Islamic Thought and
Civilization (AIITC), Prof. Shefik Osmani. He is an Albanian
scientist who carries over an experience of half a century in service
of nationwide culture and education. The future generations of
teachers and researchers will find inspiration from the tireless
work of this scientist, who devoted all his mental and physical
capacities to the education of generations in Albania, Kosovo and
wherever Albanians live in the Balkans and world, with a single
goal, the progress of our nation.
Prof. Shefik Osmani was the first, who together with the
people’s painter Sadik Kaceli, Prof. Shefqet Ndroqi and a number
of other Albanian intellectuals, encouraged us to establish the
AIITC in the year 1996.
Professor Shefik was very passionate at work. It was the
precious experience, the organizational ability, the clever mind
and the tact in communication of Prof. Shefik that made the
academic work of our Institute advance continuously. Thanks
to the guidance and advices of Prof. Shefik all our activity has
been built on projects, strategies and objectives, the completion
of which gradually led to the seizure of scientific levels. It was
the merit of Prof. Shefik that our research work was orientated
towards the studies on runways of Albanian science, art and
culture. It was also the merit Prof. Shefik the focus of the research
and investigation in the field of science and Islamic culture, as a
significant constituent part of the Albanian national culture, as
values and achievements, as precious heritage, as an expression
