ASSEMBLY OF SINJA (1912), THE NATIONAL
CHARACTER OF HIS MEMORANDUM
Sinja Assembly, whose 100th anniversary was commemorated
and celebrated in July of this jubilee year of the 100th anniversary
of the Proclamation of Independence, belongs to those great
historical events of the last stage of general uprisings of the years
1910-1912, which led to the successful winning of the Albanian
national movement, in the Proclamation of Independence and in
the creation of the Independent Albanian State. In that historicalpolitical
process all Albanians were mobilized in an overall
political, cultural, armed, war. Sinja Assembly, which met in
Sinja village of Berat and was held from 10 to 23 July 1912, was an
integral part of that historical political process. It met and was held
at a time when anti-ottoman general uprising of 1912 had included
and was developed across the whole ethnic Albanian areaj 1 .
The political and historical moment was special and gave to the
Assembly of Sinja an exceptional value, because the decisions there
taken were an answer to the national historic tasks set before the
Albanian nation in those moments. The goals of its decisions were
in conformity with the political strategy of the Albanian national
movement during the Renaissance. The contents of Memorandum
(basic document) adopted by the Assembly of Sinja expressed
clearly and publicly this aspect where everything was judged and
estimated on the basis of the national interests, where everything
was treated and required for all the Albanian nation and territories,
without any separation. It was another clear and comprehensive
expression, and an evidence of the significant political and
organizational unity of the Albanian national movement in wholeethnic
Albanian space.
