ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATION APPROVALS<br />
DATE: April 23, 1981<br />
The MFA is approved as the highest academic degree for faculty members whose primary<br />
responsibility is in Studio Art.<br />

The MFA is approved as the highest academic degree for faculty members whose primary<br />
responsibility is in Theatre Performance.<br />

The Commerce Division submits the professional certification of Certified Public Accountant<br />
(CPA) to be recognized as the “national certification” of accounting faculty for the purpose of<br />
meeting, in part, the promotion criteria for assistant professor and associate professor.<br />
This certification is granted by the <strong>State</strong> Board of Accountancy as authorized by the <strong>State</strong><br />
Legislature. It is attained by the meeting of certain statutory requirements and the successful<br />
completion of the national Uniform Certified Public Accountant Exam which is prepared and<br />
graded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The Uniform Exam consists<br />
of four sections--Auditing, Tax, Accounting Theory and Accounting Practice--and<br />
comprehensively tests accounting knowledge over a 2 1/2 day period.<br />
The Commerce Division further submits that the experience requirement be fulfilled by<br />
working in any of the following capacities:<br />
A. Licensed, practicing Certified Public Accountant<br />
B. Appropriate professional accounting employment<br />

1. Professionally Qualified: To be considered professionally qualified a faculty member<br />
may:<br />
a. be A.B.D., (i.e., has completed all course work required for a Ph.D. in business or<br />
D.B.A., passed the general exams, but has not completed a dissertation) with a<br />
major, minor or concentration in the area of assigned teaching responsibilities;<br />
or<br />
b. hold a Master’s degree in a business-related field and professional certification<br />
(e.g., C.P.A., C.D.P., C.F.M., C.M.A., P.H.R., etc.) appropriate to his or her assigned<br />
teaching responsibilities;<br />
or<br />
c. hold a Master’s degree in a business-related field and<br />
1) have extensive and substantial documented successful teaching experience in<br />
the area of assigned teaching responsibilities, and demonstrate involvement
