A MESSAGE FROM THE PROVOST
Dear Colleagues,
As we begin the 2013-2014 academic year, I send the following good wishes:
To the School of Business, the School of Nursing and Allied Health Administration, and the College of
Science and Technology for success in their re-accreditation processes. Continued accreditation makes
valuable positive statements to incoming and current students and the public at large that we are an
outstanding institution offering nationally recognized programs.
To all of our new faculty members for a rewarding year as they begin their Fairmont State University
careers.
To our returning faculty for continued satisfaction in their work and new opportunities for growth and
achievement.
To the Math and English faculties as they implement their first Developmental Education courses.
To the Faculty Welfare Committee as they assist my office and work with the Personnel Committee to
improve the processes and information provided to faculty seeking promotion and tenure.
To the Faculty Development Committee as they tighten up the rubrics and processes by which faculty
receive awards each spring.
Of course, just wishing does not make things happen. It will be working together toward common and
clearly articulated goals that will improve the work environment of our faculty and staff and the learning
environment of our students.
Finally, I thank the Deans’ Council for managing their financial resources responsibly and for consulting
me when seeking ways to improve the academic experiences of our students.
Together, we made 2012-2013 a year of progress and success. I believe we are poised to continue on that
path this year.
