Rufiji District was the source of three-quarters of all A. quanzensis harvested in the study area during
2001. Trends in harvest licences issued from Rufiji and Kilwa Districts show how volumes increased
from the early 1990s to a high in 1999 before declining rapidly (Figure 39). Hamerlynck (2003) reports
steep declines in the availability of this species from Rufiji District. Harvest areas according to licences
are shown in Figure 40.
