Summary of General Comments Officer Comments Reference for Items Actioned • The use of 1080 baits could be used to control cats in reserves. An animal ceases to be domestic the moment it enters bushland. Natural heritage and biodiversity is infinitely more important than a cat’s need to roam around the neighbourhood and native bushland. Cat’s noise and excretion habits are offensive. The Shire’s slogan is “A Home in the Forest”. Quite simply, cats don’t belong in the forest. Section 4.3 on page 20, Not enough is done to preserve wildlife habitat in areas that are cleared. Loss of bushland understorey significantly reduces the viability of that habitat. Ecological links to surrounding bushland must be included in a plan of how a development will look when completed.
