Biodiversity Strategy.
Table 18 on page 91, Local Planning Policy for Tree Preservation
to include reference to vegetation or understorey. Must
acknowledge the importance and irreplaceability of this asset.
NRPG withhold judgement on selling reserves ‘that serve not the
public or ecological function…’ Each area needs to be assessed
on a case by case basis. Rehabilitated areas may functions as
valuable ecological links then they’re worth keeping. Community
consultation for these decisions.
Amend Local Planning Scheme No.3 to support the protection of
natural areas by including the Shire’s Building Services division in
a familiarisation of the approvals process. To be used where
planning approval is not needed but where there may be valuable
endemic vegetation.
Comment noted. To be considered in the proposed
revision of the current Tree Preservation Policy (ENV9).
Document amended. Local Biodiversity Strategy has been
altered to incorporate the requirement that land assessed
for retention / sale should be freehold land, rather than an
existing reserve.
